The #NHP Wiki ..::.::.
#NHP is home, for all intents and purposes. We watch teevee there, act silly there, and live there. Some of us actually sleep there, in a roundabout way. After many years of existing, we finally made a wiki about us. Contained therein is a basic explanation of who we are and what we're about. We are aweome2. \o/
.::.::.. The Paranoid Citroid
*points* that's Lymeypantsu's website. the online home of god herself. she has the original Quote List (aka- blackmail), lots of FarScape stuff, scifi convention photos, original artwork, a bit of fanfic, Sims skins, and Temari balls. she also has lots of gorgeous j-rock wallpapers, and there's a section for j-rock mp3s that's updated periodically.
No Need For Daini-chan ..::.::.
Dainichi is my adopted little sister. she's damn nifty. there isn't much on the site, but she's working on it. i think. >.>
.::.::.. Irreversibly Contaminated
Eryn Tzun: Queen of Jibberish. loooots of shtuff. just go there, tis awesome. she's sort of adopted me as a little sister.
Inkblot Studios ..::.::.
this is GypsyJr's site. Gypsy's kind of adopted me as a sister, too (can you tell i was an only child? xD). wonderful artist and writer. *snugses her* ^^ [Inkblot site currently down, go to her Deviant Art page if you want to see her awesome work.]
.::.::.. Chiana's ChiHouse
lots of bboards for art, ChiFic, and discussion. ChianaGray (the site mistress) is a great writer. be sure to read her work when you get there.
Copper Violets ..::.::.
Copper is yet another friend from #fs. her artwork is gorgeous - i command you to look. [link broken atm]
.::.::.. AlienU
this site is great. it's got her original web-serials, e-books, and stories, and contains Dava's photography and art, but the main point of the site is her writing. the Alien U series is just awesome. if you enjoy science fiction, then you'll love it. there are other stories/serials there authored by her. "Alien U is something between an online serial and a novel-in-progress." --Dava
fandoms
.::.::.. Doctor Who
Doctor Who was my first fandom ever. i'm talking about starting with the original series. y'see, it's all my mother's fault that i'm a gianormous scifi geek (i'm not complaining!). it was through her that i got all the Star Trek series, Quantum Leap, Star Wars, and yes, Doctor Who (and later, by way of that, Red Dwarf because RD came on right beside it), among others. she wasn't the kind of parent to plop me down in front of the teevee to be electronically babysat, but she made sure i was awake when time for Doctor Who came around. PBS is virtually the only channel i ever watched. i was iiitty bitty when i fell in love with Doctor Who. i remember falling asleep on the floor after it had aired late on Saturday nights. i have fond memories of all the Doctor's incarnations, and you cannot imagine how utterly thrilled i was when BBC decided to create the new series. and hearing the theme again? GAH. just awesome. and i have to say, personally, i feel that the new series have lived up to the legend and mythology of the old. both Eccleston and Tennant have been an honour to the title of the Doctor. ahem. pardon my essay. ;)
Torchwood ..::.::.
after Doctor Who, how could i not watch RTD's Torchwood? two words. Captain. Jack. watch just one ep- just a few minutes of one ep- and you'll understand. (Eve Myles with her grin and Welsh accent are the awesome icing on the awesome cake. *fans self*)
.::.::.. The L Word
almost the entire cast of main characters are lesbians. so yeah, that's what drew me in. but it turned out to be really good. the story arcs are mostly great (though there is a bit of soap-opera-ness in places). the characters are falliable, make bad decisions, fall into good things, and none of them are anywhere close to perfect, thank goodness. and it helps that Kate Moennig is Sexy Sexypants McSexOnLegs, too. >.>
Dexter ..::.::.
Dexter works for the cops as a forensic expert in blood spatter. he's also a serial killer. he puts down criminals who escape justice. veeery good show. i'm just getting into it, courtesy of Lymeypantsu. one of these days, i'll learn to take my friends' advice on great shows and not put up a fight before watching. really. i will.
.::.::.. FarScape
John Crichton is accidentally shot through a wormhole while on a fairly routine space mission. he flies through to crash into another ship, killing it's pilot (thus making a gianormous enemy in said pilot's brother), and ends up on a ship full of alien prisoners. Zhaan, a Delvian Pa'u. Ka D'Argo, a Luxan ex-general. Aeryn Sun, a Peacekeeper grunt. Dominar Rygel, a Hynerian king in exile. and very soon, Chiana, a young Nebari noncomformist. the show is so original, so unlike anything else on television. you truly fall in love with the characters. i met all my best friends through this show, so that adds a few hundred awesome billion points -^__________^-
Charmed ..::.::.
in the beginning, The Charmed Ones were Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. things happen (without giving too many spoilers), and in the last few recent seasons the three are Piper, Phoebe, and Paige. overall, the show is about three sisters who are brought back together through their late grandmother and given a not-so-gentle nudge into being witches. Wicca is mentioned quite a bit, and there are some Wiccan principles in there, but don't take the show as gospel, mmkay?
.::.::.. The Sentinel
Jim Ellison spent a long time in the jungle, and as a result, his senses were heightened to help him survive. he then meets Blair Sandburg, an anthropology grad student. there is so much slashing possibility for this, it'sridiculouswonderful! xD Jim and Blair are the old married couple of slash.
Profiler (The Skewed Believers site) ..::.::.
what can i say? i've always been one to love the fucked up 'shipper pairings. the site linked above pairs Samantha and Jack. *shiftyeyes* anyway, Samantha Waters is a forensic psychologist who is being stalked by a murderer/psycho the media has dubbed The Jack of All Trades. after Jack murders her husband, Samantha leaves the FBI to take care of her daughter and ends up living as a prisoner in her own home. long story short; her boss talks her into coming back to work and Jack starts up again. story goes from there.
.::.::.. Forever Knight
vampires! one of my first loves, growing up. the FK world vampires are more like Anne Rice vampires; cherubic, guilt-ridden, and multi-faceted, rather than one-dimensional bloodthirsty monsters of Draculian legend.
Firefly ..::.::.
the site is for the movie Serenity, but it's aaall about Firefly. yet another show i was introduced to late. it was cancelled after only slightly more than half a season (thanksmoronsexecs). Firefly is scifi-westernish show set in the 26th century. there are spaceships, guns, interplanetary war (sort of), duels, government conspiracy, livestock- it sounds strange, yes. but it's good. it's by Joss Whedon. of course it's good. it's rerunning on scifi at the moment, but you should buy the dvd set. it's more than worth it.
.::.::.. Criminal Minds
honestly, i watch Criminal Minds for the cuteness that is Kirsten Vangsness, and to see Matthew Gray Gubler play a really damn awkward know-it-all genius. but it does have some fantastic story arcs.
Dark Angel ..::.::.
yeah, yeah, it was cancelled after only two seasons (because some critics had their heads stuck where the sun don't shine), but i still think it was a great series, and could have become even better, had they been able to run longer. Jessica Alba was the perfect Max, Michael Weatherly is just adorable, and i adored Valarie Rae Miller as Original Cindy. wonder why? *^^*
.::.::.. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
and by extention, Angel the series (the site linked above has images, transcripts, and information on both). that isn't the official site, obviously, but i love buffyworld because they have summaries of each episode, information about little things mentioned in each ep, quotes, pictures, forums, and more.
SeaQuest ..::.::.
SeaQuest was another of my early fandoms. it attracted me because one of the main characters was a young genius, it's futuristic, and there were some very dark episodes, where most shows around the time were fluff. it's about a submarine, a great captain who's basically the guardian of this kid who's far too smart for his own good, and a 'talking' dolphin named Darwin. i know, it's another one that sounds strange. it's kinda one of those shows you need to watch from the beginning, lest ye be lost. [Jonathan Brandis died Nov 12 '03, at 27 years of age. your fans loved you, Jon. you will be greatly missed... -_-] there is a site dedicated to Jon here. the first season dvd set of SeaQuest is now for sale.
.::.::.. Stargate Atlantis
i gravitate toward snarky geniuses, therefore i am all about Dr Rodney McKay. but the rest of the Atlantis team is awesome, as well. plot is basically: the myth about the lost city of Atlantis is partially true, only it's been a little muddled over the years. Atlantis exists on another planet, in the Pegasus galaxy. a team from Earth goes through, knowing that it's a one way trip, since there isn't a power source sufficient to let them go back and forth. stuff happens from there. i'm not good at explanations, but trust me, it's good.
NCIS ..::.::.
NCIS is about a Naval Criminal Investigative Service team. one of the stars is Pauley Perrette. mrrow. reason enough to watch, right there.
web comics
Questionable Content ..::.::.
a comic about a bunch of Indie kids (er, young adults?). some damn hilarious stuff comes out of this guy's artwork. Faye = teh win.
.::.::.. XKCD
unpronouncable non-acronym. great snarky comic involving math, science, and romance. ftw.
Jack ..::.::.
another comic. an extremely morbid, demented depiction of Death and hell as played by furries. you would think the furries would add a cutesy part to it that would take away from the morbidity. it doesn't. it only adds to the freaky-factor. very good read.
.::.::.. The Devil's Panties
a wonderful online comic about some college graduates who are trying to find a place in the world. they also happen to be goth, [more than] slightly screwed up, attempting to hold down jobs, and highly amusing.
Demonlogy 101 ..::.::.
this is yet another great online comic. Raven is a high school girl who is a demon. she only thinks she knows who/what her parents were. she's a kid who continues finding out stuff about herself throughout the comic. her experiences are drawn in a roundabout way from the creator's life and ordeals.
.::.::.. Fallen - a comic by: Aido
a friend recommended this comic to me a while back, and i fell in love with it on the first page. the world she's spun is a world of Kin, Demi-gods, Demons, Angels, and even a few Humans. the rest of Aido's site is great, as well.
Boy Meets Boy ..::.::.
a comic that's been going for a couple of years. the idea is pretty obvious; two boys in love. and it's painfully adorable.
.::.::.. Something Positive
this is another comic that's taken from real life experiences. the characters are all actually part of the artist's circle of friends. (at times, i kinda pity the author...)
Vinci & Arty ..::.::.
Gyps introduced me to this comic. augh. it's so. freaking. adorable. the main characters are a gay couple- a raccoon and a cheetah. don't look at me that way. it's sweet!
misc. links
.::.::.. Asperger's Syndrome
because... well, i don't have to explain why it's here. it just is. AS is part of the autism spectrum.
David Hewlett's site ..::.::.
David Hewlett, how are you so awesome? *snicker* his site is mostly revolving around his movie A Dog's Breakfast, right now. he's a great big computer nerd, and isn't at all ashamed to flash his geek credentials. Hewlett plays Dr Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis. he's aaall kinds of geeky, which makes my geeky little heart swell with pride.
.::.::.. John Barrowman (official site)
my current aural fixation. voice to make you absolutely melt. also a good actor (West End/Broadway, teevee, movies, you name it), geeky, and more than a bit of a perv and exhibitionist. breathtaking personality, and he practically oozes charisma. and hot. did i mention hot? phwoar. (was that me, calling a guy hot? yeah. he's that awesome. i can't find a damn thing wrong with the boy.)
LiveJournal ..::.::.
in my opinion, this is the best online journaling site out there, to date. most other sites have taken their coding from LJ. the invite codes have been taken out of play, so anyone can make a journal for free now. unfortunately, this has upped the amount of trolls, flamers, and other assholes. still more decent that the rest of the journalling sites, though.
.::.::.. After Ellen
this site is a great resource for information on lots of lgbt celebrities and shows that star them. there are a lot of wonderful articles and info here.
Lesbian.dot.com ..::.::.
a great place for lesbian news, resources, health information, and lots more. there's a lot there, and 99.999% chance they'll have something you can relate to and/or use.
.::.::.. SIARI
this site is a good resource, if you're an ex- or current self-injurer of any kind, or are close to someone else who is. the site maintainers and contacts are kind and willing to help when they can. this site also has information on eating disorders, depression, other mental illnesses, and resources for rape and abuse survivors.
Gay.dot.com ..::.::.
a nice site with a chatroom and messaging thingie, for the glbt community.
.::.::.. BMEzine
i love piercings. this is the best ever piercing (and tattoo) information site on the web, imo. there are sections for both, all divided into body parts. the site also covers scarification, branding, and suspension.
