"Y'know the sparkles Willow made in the Buffy musical ep? I
can do that! And the glamours in
The Craft? I can do those, too!"

You are not now nor have you ever been Samantha, Sabrina, Willow, Nancy, or any of The Charmed Ones. And you never will be. You cannot wiggle your nose to clean your house instantly, conjure an alternate dimension in your linens closet, raise someone from beyond the grave, beach a whale with your 'powers', or fight demons with a nursery rhyme. Get over yourself. If you want to change the colour of your eyes, go to the optometrist and order a pair of tinted contacts. Sparkles? Buy a tube of glitter.

Don't get me wrong. I like all those shows. They're very entertaining and have great fantasy worlds, but there is little to no truth in any of their depictions of witchcraft or Wicca. They got a lot of people interested in the occult and/or paganism. That's great- the more people who actually learn about it and have their misconceptions debunked, the better. But it also spawned a lot of little girls using witchcraft as a slumber party game. That's stupid, and very annoying to those of us who take Wicca and witchcraft seriously.
